So you want to know about me, huh? Well, first off, let me direct you to my old About Me page because I think it actually describes me pretty accurately even though it is now a year old and slightly out of date.
so, let's get this show on the road!! LOL My name is Sara, and I'm a 28 year old mother and wife *smiles* Unlike on my old about me page, my life is not hectic at the moment, aside from fixing up some flats and trying to move home to the USA! *grin* I'll tell you about me though :)
My husband - Ross -and I met online ten years ago, and we started 'going out' (over the computer) a year and a half after we first met. Neither of us believed in love online at the time, so it was a complete shock to find out that we were in love!! *grin* I came over to Wales to be a nanny for six months and to meet Ross, who was from England (I am from Wisconsin, USA). The more we saw of each other, the more we fell in love and by August of 1997 we were engaged! We were married on February 27, 1998 and although we have had our share of ups and downs over the years, we are still very much in love and very happy to be together! Ross is still my very best friend, and I love that :)
However, before I got all soppy *grin* let me go on in my story :) In September of 1998, I had a wonderful little boy named Toby. Toby is very very clever, and is always two grades above other kids his age in reading and math. He also has skipped a grade in his school and even with that, he is still ahead of the class. We don't want him to go too far forward in school though so hopefully skipping just one year will be okay :) At the moment Toby is six, and he will be turning seven next month on September 18th :) Toby's also just learned how to play checkers, he loves playing trivial pursuit on playstation and as a hobby he reads the newspaper. *grin* I'm not kidding :)
I have a daughter named Chloe, who was born January 26th, 2002. She is the sweetest little girl ever, however she has a rare chromosome disorder called 'Ring22'. This means that she is globally delayed in pretty much all aspects, but she is continuously progressing, and is always learning. She is a very determined child, and she is a very clever problem-solver, which stands her in good stead for the future. However, she is only three at the moment, so we will see how she progresses *smiles* The hardest bit about having a disabled child is the fact that her immune system is lowered, and we've had quite a number of scares with her - leading to our 'open door' at the hospital. Hopefully the hospital stays will get less and less though as she gets older *crosses fingers* and *knocks on wood* I don't know if that will help, but I may as well try :)
I have just graduated from university with my BA (Hons) Social Policy degree, of which I am extremely proud. It was very tough going, and for three years I didn't get even one day off each week, so not only am I happy that its over, but I'm very pleased with myself that I managed to do it! YAY :)
I also recently quit my job as a part-time manager at Blockbusters, and instead am going to care for my daughter for the next few months while Ross works (YAY *grin*) - meanwhile I get to play with Chloe *huge smile* Luckily I am able to get Carers Allowance from the government, which will cover the money that I would have gotten from Blockbusters :) I loved my job at Blockbuster, and would have liked to stay there, but two of the managers started ganging up on me - both of whom kept trying to pin whatever mistakes they made onto me. I just got sick of it and handed in my weeks notice. If it wasn't for those two, I would have liked to stay working there, but well... at this point in time, I'm glad to be out of work and just relaxing for awhile - well deserved I say!! :)
Having said that, Ross and I are actually quite busy in non-conventional ways. We own two flats, both of which need fixing up so that we can sell them and make a profit - and the profit will go to buying our house in Wisconsin, USA when we move there later this year. So we are busy doing that, and we are also busy applying to the government. We just applied for my British Citizenship (instead of just a right to stay in the country) and once that is sorted out, we will apply for Ross to move to the USA. Luckily, the kids are a cinch and they both already have both their UK and USA passports. Oops, if this wasn't clear already, although we live in the UK currently, and have done for the past eight or so years, we will be moving back to my hometown. I'm constantly homesick, so we decided that once university was over, we would move home. So here we go! *grin* I can't wait :) :)
The other constant in my life is The Rumbles, my website competition. I started up The Rumbles way back in 1999, and I'm still enjoying it just as much as I did when we first started! :) I spend quite a lot of my evenings working on The Rumbles :)
So that is how I spend my days at the moment :) Fixing up the flats, and playing with my two children. What could be better??? :)
